A New Way to Take Care of Heel and Ball of Foot Pain

Do you suffer from heel pain, corns, calluses, or pain in the ball of your foot? At Caring Podiatry, we offer our Monmouth and Middlesex County patients a non-surgical treatment called Radiesse that offers long-lasting relief.

Behind the Pain

A natural but unfortunate consequence of aging is the loss of fat padding in our bodies. Fat pad atrophy can result in hands and faces starting to look slack. However, fat pad atrophy in the heels and the ball of the feet can also be the source of significant discomfort. This decrease in padding can exacerbate by repetitive compression of the area, which can occur in runners, those who walk or stand for extended periods, and patients who have spent years in high heels. When the fat pad erodes, painful calluses may form in response to the pressure in the affected area.

The Radiesse Solution

Until recently, conservative treatment options for this type of foot pain were limited to padding, or custom orthotics to try to shift the load and debridement of the calluses. Now, however, Radiesse offers a more comfortable and longer-term solution.

Radiesse is a dermal filler injected under a callus, the heel pad, or between the toes to cushion and decrease pressure, thereby alleviating pain. Made of calcium hydroxyapatite, a substance typically found in our bones and teeth, Radiesse can be used without risk of allergic reaction.

The Procedure

Radiesse can be safely injected in the comfort of our Monroe Township (609-860-9111) or our Neptune (732-455-8700) offices. The procedure is done with no incisions and requires only local anesthesia. Since the product is highly viscous, the area where it is injected must be offloaded for a period to allow the implant to set. Patients need to wear a metatarsal pad and firm shoes for two weeks after the procedure.

The Results

Radiesse injections provide relief for 6-12 months. In addition to adding volume and cushioning under the skin also stimulates your body’s natural collagen production, bringing further benefits. It allows for injections to be spaced longer apart over time.

If you have been dealing with the bottom of the foot pain, it’s time to find out of Radiesse can help you. Contact us today for an appointment so that one of our podiatrists, Andrew Schmierer, Craig Shapero, and Mark Fillari, can examine your feet and determine if Radiesse is right for you.
